Epidemics and Homoeopathy
Many parts of our country are now going
through yet another hardship of epidemic fevers. In Kerala, it is
Chikungunya mainly in northern districts. Health department with the
help of voluntary organizations did a commendable job in blunting the
severity of the attacks.
Homoeopathic system made a distinct advantage during last few months
in treating the fevers and after effects quite effectively. In many
parts of Kerala, we received more requests for medical camps than we
could handle. The Medical Officers and private practitioners worked
hard to raise the acceptance of our system among the public. The
Department of Homoeopathy needs special mention in their timely
efforts in mobilizing their men and machinery successfully in fighting
this war against epidemics.
It makes very alarming readings that in
many parts of our country pharmacies are distributing preventive
medicines for swine flu. The medicine, potency, dose and duration of
action vary from pharmacy to pharmacy and doctor to doctor. There
should be some proper guidelines and rules to select the ‘genus
epidemicus’ and the CCH or CCRH should take responsibility and
implement proper guidance. Otherwise this preventive medicine business
will bring only ridicule and mockery to our system.
Wishing you the best
Yours in homoeopathy
